From 16–18 October 2025, the 25th International Multi-Conference on Reliability and Statistics in Transportation and Communication (RelStat-2025) took place at the Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI) in Riga, Latvia. The event gathered over 200 researchers, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss smart connectivity, data-driven mobility, and sustainable transport systems.
Representing the Maritime Transport Research Group at the TalTech Estonian Maritime Academy, Kristine Carjova presented the paper “A Stakeholder-Weighted AHP Comparison of Alternative Marine Fuels in Estonia’s Maritime Sector,” co-authored with Deniece M. Aiken, Prof. Olli-Pekka Hilmola, Prof. Ulla Tapaninen, and Teemu Manderbacka (VTT).
The study, which examined stakeholder-weighted decision criteria for marine fuel alternatives and offered insights into Estonia’s pathway toward cleaner and more sustainable shipping, was presented on Thursday, 16 October, within the session “Smart & Sustainable Transport Systems” (Aud. 222), moderated by Prof. Irina Yatskiv and Prof. Irina Pticina (Latvia).
The RelStat-2025 programme featured keynote speakers such as Dr Domokos Esztergár-Kiss (Budapest University of Technology and Economics), Dr Vassilios Kappatos (Hellenic Institute of Transport, CERTH), and Janis Barbars (Road Competence Centre, Latvia), who presented emerging research on Mobility-as-a-Service, predictive maintenance, and digital safety in transport.
BALTIC-FIT’s participation represents a key KPI milestone, strengthening the project’s academic visibility and supporting its mission to foster innovation, resilience, and climate neutrality in the Baltic Sea’s maritime sector.
