BALTIC-FIT at SeaFocus Helsinki

On 26 November 2025, Prof. Ulla Tapaninen, BALTIC-FIT coordinator, joined the SeaFocus International “Power of Youth” event in Helsinki, Finland – a high-energy gathering spotlighting the next generation of maritime minds.

Prof. Ulla Tapaninen contributed with a presentation titled “Decarbonisation Challenge in Shipping” and spoke about what it really takes to cut emissions at sea – not just policies, but people, skills, and bold cooperation. She brought in lessons from BALTIC-FIT and reminded the audience: “Decarbonisation isn’t a motto – it’s a team sport.”

Prof. Ulla Tapaninen also joined the debate panel exploring the future of maritime leadership in an era of automation and climate urgency. The panel brought students and industry leaders together to talk openly about AI, decarbonisation, and the talent gap – and to hear how the next generation sees the road ahead.

SeaFocus has connected over 600 students worldwide since 2017, creating a space where youth meet industry and ideas spark careers. Events like this are more than conferences – they’re launchpads.

We’re proud to see BALTIC-FIT represented in conversations that matter, with voices that will shape the future.
