Following the GreenSEA Dialogue 2026 conference, BALTIC-FIT continued its agenda in Singapore with a series of professional meetings focused on deepening cooperation in maritime research, education, innovation, and cybersecurity.
14 January 2026. Kristine Carjova (TalTech Estonian Maritime Academy), together with Kristel Alver (Estonian Embassy in Singapore), visited the Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI). During the meeting with Dr. Xinwei Chen (Deputy Executive Director, SMI) and Yee Wei Loh (Assistant Director, SMI), the parties exchanged views on shared research priorities, regional innovation agendas, and opportunities for future collaboration.
Later the same day, Kristel Alver invited Kristine Carjova to the Estonian Embassy in Singapore for a meeting with H.E. Veikko Kala, Ambassador of Estonia to Singapore.
15 January 2026. Kristine Carjova and Prof. Carlos Jahn (Director, Fraunhofer CML) visited the iTrust Centre at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). They were welcomed by Prof. Jianying Zhou (Centre Director, iTrust) and his colleagues for an exchange on maritime cybersecurity, digital resilience, and joint research potential. The visit was strengthened by the earlier signed MoU on Maritime Cybersecurity between Estonia and Singapore, implemented with the support of the SMI.
The same day, Kristine Carjova visited the Singapore Maritime Academy (Singapore Polytechnic) and met with Capt Chatur Wahyu, Director of SMA. The meeting provided insights into maritime education and evolving training practices in Singapore.
The final stop of the visit was at the Institute for Infocomm Research (A*STAR), where Kristine Carjova met with Jamie Ng (Division Head, A*STAR) and Dora Juan Juan Hu (Principal Scientist, A*STAR). The focus was on potential collaboration in non-destructive testing and acoustic diagnostics for engineering systems and underwater pipeline monitoring.
These productive meetings mark an important step forward in building lasting international partnerships and advancing BALTIC-FIT’s mission for a sustainable and digitally resilient maritime future.
