BALTIC-FIT Joins Climate Discussions at Baltic Ports for Climate Conference in Tallinn

On October 29–30, 2024, members of the BALTIC-FIT project participated in the Baltic Ports for Climate Conference in Tallinn, Estonia. The event was organized by the Baltic Ports Organization and the Port of Tallinn, bringing together experts and stakeholders from the port industry to discuss key trends in maritime transport and sustainability across the Baltic Sea region.

The BALTIC-FIT team was represented by Kadi Kasepõld, Tonis Hunt, and Kristine Carjova, who engaged in discussions on critical topics such as the role of ports in the EU’s energy transition, offshore wind development, and alternative fuels for shipping, including green hydrogen, LNG, and methanol.

The conference also explored the potential of ports as hubs for new energy carriers and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), as well as the broader process of port sector decarbonization. Participating in such events provides valuable insights and new directions for the BALTIC-FIT project, helping to drive sustainable innovation in maritime transport.
