A great continuation of the BALTIC-FIT 1st INNOVATION WORKSHOP “MARITIME DECARBONIZATION” was the Marine Hackathon “Green Corridors”, organized by the Estonian Maritime Academy of TalTech in partnership with the AS Port of Tallinn.
Held on September 13th, 2024, the Marine Hackathon offered a platform where students, researchers, and companies collaborated on practical, innovative solutions. This year’s hackathon centered on the GREEN CORRIDOR, focusing on climate-neutral and sustainable maritime transport between Estonia and Finland. The Port of Tallinn presented challenges such as traffic flow management, enhancing waste sorting, and monitoring air quality.
The teams gathered for 12 hours at the TalTech Estonian Maritime Academy to reach a solution to the challenges with the help of mentors and experts, among whom there were BALTIC-FIT project members. BALTIC-FIT Coordinator Prof. Ulla Tapaninen was a member of the jury.
This event was a perfect follow-up to the INNOVATION WORKSHOP, reinforcing collaboration across the Baltic region to drive maritime innovation and contribute to a greener, more sustainable Baltic Sea.
