The BALTIC-FIT Summer School 2026 has officially started, bringing this year’s focus to Technological Opportunities in Maritime Decarbonization.
Hosted this year in Helsinki, Finland, the Summer School is organised by project partner VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd, one of Europe’s leading research institutions.
More than PhD students, early-stage and senior researchers, professors and experts from across Europe and beyond joined the opening day, creating a strong international platform for knowledge exchange and discussion on the future of sustainable shipping.
The programme was opened with welcome words by Dr. Jarkko Rahikainen (VTT).
The first lecture, “Technological Opportunities to Reduce Maritime GHG Emissions,” was delivered by Dr. Teemu Manderbacka (VTT), offering insights into practical technological pathways for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in shipping.
With a strong start and a full programme ahead, the BALTIC-FIT Summer School 2026 continues to create space for learning, exchange, and practical dialogue for the next generation of maritime researchers and professionals.
